Archibald Downie (1894 – 1973)
Born 6th December 1894 in Lochaline, Morven, Archibald enlisted for WW1 on 9th December 1914, with the Cameron Highlanders, at the age of 20 years. During the Great War, he fought in France and was wounded by shrapnel.
While Headmaster of Strath of Appin School (1941 – 1961) and during WW2, he served with the local Home Guard.
He died at Lochranza, Isle of Arran in 1973.

Archibald Downie was brother to my grandmother Mary Downie and father of musician Alasdair Downie.
I regognise his picture and I knew him when I was a child.
The dates showing are incorrect.
He was born on 6th Dec 1894 and died in Lochranza in 1973.
He joined the Cameron Highlanders on 9th Dec 1914 and spent WW1 in France.
