Archibald Downie (1894 – 1973) Born 6th December 1894 in Lochaline, Morven, Archibald enlisted for WW1 on 9th December 1914, with the Cameron Highlanders, at the age of 20 years. During the Great War, he fought in France and was wounded by shrapnel. While Headmaster of Strath of Appin School (1941 – 1961) and during WW2, he served with the local Home Guard.
